We were only in the area for a few days and still ended up coming back here twice for dinner because the food was THAT good. After the first time, we already knew we had to come back and try the other half of the menu. Everything we ordered both nights was amazing, the service was excellent, and everyone was so friendly. We had such good conversations with the staff and the whole place just had a really welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely come back again. Easily one of our favourite spots from our trip.
We had a wonderful experience at Refugio grill, the food was fantastic and the atmosphere was calm and tranquil. We ordered mussels and antipasto for appetizers which were phenomenal, followed by the four dinners showed in the photos. The meals were incredible and the ambiance unmatched. Highly recommend when you visit manzanillo!
Amazing food! Truly. We had the octopus and tuna salad. Both were exceptional. Best food we’ve had in this part of CR. Owner is very sweet too.
Choosing this restaurant was a last minute change of plans and I'm VERY happy to have made that change! Tucked off the side of the road, across from the entrance to Playa Grande, sits El Refugio Grill. Saying it's cozy doesn't do it justice. A small staff prepare everything from scratch and with love. The pulpo al pementon (grilled octopus) was so tender and flavorful, cooked perfectly and so fresh. The bife con chimichurry, again cooked to my request, was very tender. The chimichurry paired perfectly with the beef. The house chili sauce, while attention getting hot, had a really nice flavor. I choose not to use the house sauce only because the chefs seasonings were perfect for me. This wonderful dinner was finished by the creps de dulche de leche and the grilled pineapple, both topped with a wonderfully creamy ice cream. Before I forget, the service was the ideal blend of being superful helpful but also knew when to allow us to enjoy the meal without interruption. We wanted for nothing. So, if you'd like a nice, relaxing, carefully prepared meal that's full of flavor, stop by El Refugio Grill. You will not be disappointed.
Had lunch there today. The octopus was incredible! One of the best I ever had! The black mussels were done fabulously as well! Highly recommend the place! The staff is super nice and welcoming as well!
