Was told to come here after Matapalo had a long wait.. WOW incredible. They had 2 for 1 drink specials. Very good maragaritas. Shrimp ceviche.. fire Tuna steak…. Fire Fish tacos….. FIRE Very very good
My wife and I ate at El Capitan our second night in the area and liked it so much that we went back on our third and final night (even though we usually like to sample different places!) It's off the beaten path in a traditional neighborhood setting with young people and families enjoying their lives around the nearby soccer field. Everything was prepared perfectly and presented beautifully. We had the whole snapper and shrimp tacos one night and the fried calamari and fish tacos (the chef was happy to make it grilled instead of the fried option on the menu) on the other. Of the sides available, the mashed potatoes were some of the best we've ever tasted - probably due to the quantity of butter mashed in! He hadn't made flan the first night but said he would be making it the next night (probably a good part of my vote to return!) It was worth it! Creamy and rich flan with perfectly balanced caramel syrup and the plate garnished with chocolate drizzle. Accompanied by good, dark roast Costa Rican coffee. Don't miss this place if you're in the area and consider making a detour to enjoy it if you're anywhere close by!
My wife and I were both excited to hear that a new restaurant had opened in the area. We went in for an early dinner to try the place out. The music we a bit loud as we approached but we sat near the window and soon we were used to the volume level. The restaurant owner greeted us and spoke to us in English. He seemed very happy to be doing what he’s doing and also quite grateful that we were there. We started with an appetizer of fish ceviche, a personal favorite of ours. The portion was large and it tasted so good. It was served with plantain chips and a house made hot sauce. The hot sauce was in the mild side but had a delicious flavor. My life long love and I both ordered the fish plate, hers cooked in garlic butter and mine fried. Both our fish was served perfectly moist and full of flavor. There are several options for side dishes. The yucca fries are great and if anything I would have loved more of them. They were good with the house hot sauce, which I leaned on heavily throughout the entire meal. We’d go back again for sure! There are a few more enticing items on their menu and the daily specials sounded great too. Stop by if you’re in the area!
Excellent fresh and tasty food served! We came to eat here after a local tip, from our hotel. I looked at the other reviews and was explained it was a relatively new restaurant. Upon our arrival we were greeted with a super friendly English speaking host. I assume he owned the place. Was really interested in the homemade chilli sauce so he went out of his way to find me one of the chillies that they use, it’s a local one and not specific. Sauce was tasty and not too hot perfect! We ordered the fish ceviche which was fabulous and will be ordering it again! We shared this and it was a generous portion for two people. In fact we enjoyed it so much I forgot to take a photo! My other half ordered the fresh tuna special and it was cooked perfectly and also large portions. The mains come with two side dishes of you choice. I also ordered the chicken wings and they were delicious choice of sauce for these too. Fantastic to see so many locals also enjoying the restaurant. We also had a cocktail which was 2 for 1 and fantastic.
We started with a fresh salad as an appetizer, which was delicious and nicely prepared. For the main course, we had a perfectly seared tuna filet cooked medium rare, served with creamy mashed potatoes and vegetables. The food quality was excellent and everything tasted fantastic. On top of that, the host was super friendly and welcoming.
