Hacienda Baru National Wildlife Refuge
Hacienda Baru started as a working cattle ranch to become a National Wildlife Refuge and Lodge because of the conservation efforts of the owner, Jack Ewing. Now that the land has been reforested, the natural wonders of the rainforest have returned. You can walk the 7 kilometers of hiking trails or along the 3 kilometers of pristine beach and expect to see a variety animals such as sloths, monkeys and more. If you are more adventurous take one of the zip line tours that places you in the jungle canopy and eye to eye with the creatures of the jungle.
Hacienda Baru is a complete eco resort with cabins, Restaurant El Ceibo, guided tours, educational outlets and plenty of wildlife and flora to enjoy. The guides and other staff are very courteous, helpful and informative.
