The grounds are beautiful. We ate lunch here, explored the gardens, and paddled the mini river/pond. The boat cost 1,000 colones per person and we enjoyed about 15 minutes "on the water". Lunch was nice but the food was slightly bland. The buffet actually might have been a better option, it definitely looked and smelled very good. There was a guy in the parking lot "helping" drivers park for a donation. This is somewhat common in Costa Rica but I think it's rediculous to pay someone to "help" me park in a place like this.
We spent one night at La Casona del Cafetal, and had a good night sleep The room was clean and spacious. It's very quiet and peaceful. The surrounding area is nice and we saw lots of birds. Breakfast was good and the staff were nice.
We recently family lunch at La Casona del Cafetal and overall had a very positive experience. The setting is absolutely stunning—dining right in front of the lake with views of the valley is the highlight of the visit. As for the food: · Starters: we order the ceviche with fried plantains and the hearts of palm salad. Both good. • Sea bass with maracuya sauce: The flavor was good, but unfortunately, it arrived late (after everyone else had started eating) and wasn't fully cooked through. · Trout with vegetables: Very good and well-prepared. · Salmon with sweet plantains and salad: Also very good; the combination of flavors worked perfectly. · Creamy hearts of palm casserole served with fries and salad: This was excellent. A must-try dish! · Sautéed trout: Tasty and nicely presented. The service was a bit lacking, mainly because there was a private event happening at the same time, which left the waiters busy and somewhat distracted. Despite that, the quality of most dishes and the incredible view made it a memorable meal.
We had our wedding here and it was the best day of our lives!!! Sophia and the employees are VERY easy to work with and made our day so smooth. They are so friendly, attentive, and helpful. BEAUTIFUL location. Yummy food. Gorgeous rooms. They even let us set off fireworks near the pond at the end of the night (-:
Lovely place to stay. Beautiful grounds which attract a lot of birds. Great for bird watching and strolling in the beautiful gardens. Property is well maintained and clean. The rooms are well appointed with fans and air conditioning. WiFi is good and handled Zoom calls. Breakfast was excellent with superb coffee. My evening meal was nice but expensive . Overall I enjoyed my one night stay here.
