If you are staying in the Jaco area or even just driving past on your way to Manuel Antonio, Dominical, Uvita, or the Osa Peninsula, do yourself a favor and make this easy 10-minute drive off the main highway and stop for lunch or dinner at this lovely authentic restaurant. Roberto is a marvel. An amazing human being and one heck of a chef. This one-man show impressed from the moment we sat down. Welcoming, friendly and so easy to talk to. His English is great and his Spanish patient (for those still learning). He has a well-stocked bar and the tastiest smoothies (we enjoyed guanabana and passion fruit). Lunch options for us included garlic shrimp, mahi mahi, chicken or a pork chop (offerings change regularly). All lunches were served with fries and a fresh salad along with the tastiest rice and beans. Roberto’s penchant for flavor development with simple honest ingredients allows the food to shine as intended. His kind demeanor and nature made for one of our favorite meals and conversation while visiting Costa Rica. Roberto is the embodiment of Pura Vida, and is doing what he loves and loving what he’s doing. Add an amazing memory to your own trip by dining with him (and bring cash)! ¡Muchas gracias, Roberto!
This was by far our most amazing dining experience while we visited Jaco. Roberto is so sweet and kind, a genuinely wholesome guy with some fantastic food. He makes you feel not just welcome, but like family. We were so amazed the first time we happened upon this hidden gem that we went back for dinner the following night. Highly, highly recommend. The chicken and shrimp dishes are delicious!
The most beautiful Costa Rica experience!! Nestled at the foot of the mountains with open air seating, and EXCELLENT food. Roberto loves what he does, and it come through in the food and the experience itself. This is a don't miss spot!!!
Roberto’s Place is by far the best dining experience I’ve had in Costa Rica! Roberto truly welcomes his customers in like family. He is passionate about feeding people amazing food and he pours his heart into everything he cooks. I loved my first meal there so much that I returned a few days later with mahi I caught, and Roberto was happy to cook it into a delicious lunch. Don’t leave Jaco without eating here! It is incredible!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolute hidden gem – a must-visit near Jaco This was our second time visiting Roberto’s, and honestly, it was one of the main reasons we came back to Costa Rica. That alone should tell you everything. Roberto’s place isn’t just a restaurant—it’s an experience. It’s set in his own backyard, and the atmosphere is something special: relaxed, authentic, and full of character. You feel like you’ve been welcomed into someone’s home, not just seated at a table. The food? Unreal. Everything is fresh, locally sourced, and made with serious care. You can taste the difference in every bite. It’s easily some of the best food we’ve had in Costa Rica. But what truly sets this place apart is Roberto himself. He is one of the kindest, most genuine people you’ll meet. He goes out of his way to make sure you’re taken care of, happy, and well fed. He loves interacting with guests (especially kids), and you can tell he takes real pride in what he’s built. It’s rare to find a place that nails food, atmosphere, and hospitality at this level—but Roberto does it effortlessly. If you’re anywhere near Jaco, do yourself a favor and go. And if you’re debating it—don’t. This is one of those places you’ll remember long after your trip is over. We’ll 100% be back again.
