Pizza was so so, cooked too hot in the brick oven so likely we're not monitoring temps, so crust didn't have time to fully cook and was soft while top was almost over cooked and pies were not properly rotated while in the oven for even crust development and char on cornicones. Lively place and very cute but seemed overstaffed and standing around while also not all that attentive. Good vibe overall and nice place, clean. Expecting more from the pizzas though, ordered 3. Over priced as well.
I think this is what you would call a theme restaurant. Great sunset views. A train in the restaurant but the food was “theme” average. Children enjoyed it, even though we didn’t sit in the wagon. Service a bit hit and miss. Had to ask a few times for different things. Also very expensive for what it was.
My husband got the "special wagon burger" and said it might be the best burger he ever had in his life. It was delicious. The chips and guac was so fresh -might be the best guac I have ever had. Atmosphere is cozy and blended with natural surroundings with the indoor/outdoor vibes. We visited in early May and it was not at all busy! It was nice having such a lovely setting pretty much to ourselves. The service was great, just be mindful that you cannot add a tip to your card so bring some cash. Most people are happy to accept tips in USD
Really fun place for dinner. Lots of choices for appetizers, salads, pizzas, dessert, and drinks. They bake the pizzas in wood fire ovens right in front of you. They are not overly burnt and taste amazing. Portions for other good items are pretty generous as well. They also have a bar and a lot of wine and beer options. Their signature cocktails are also some of the best I've had in Costa Rica.
El Wagon in Manuel Antonio absolutely exceeded my expectations. The food, the atmosphere, and the service were all on point. I ordered the cheeseburger. It was incredible—juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Easily one of the best burgers I’ve had anywhere. The eggplant appetizer was another standout. Fresh, rich, and layered with amazing flavor. Loved every bite. Service was top-tier from start to finish. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and checked in regularly without being intrusive. You can tell they genuinely care about the experience. Beautiful setting, great energy, and exceptional food. Highly recommend El Wagon if you’re in the area. I’ll definitely be back!
