Description

Arenal is the youngest volcano in Costa Rica and is found in the northern part of the country, Part of the Arenal Volcano National Park, the Arenal volcano area brings in countless visitors each year. The volcano itself soars to an impressive height of 5,358 feet (1,633 meters) and dominates the skyline with its proportionate conical shape. It is not simply a solitary peak; it is surrounded by lavish jungles, hot springs, and the picturesque Lake Arenal, providing a spectacular backdrop that contributes to its allure. What makes Arenal Volcano so popular is that although the volcano erupted in 1968 and ruined three towns, it is still the most active volcano not just in Costa Rica but across the world. Scientists declared that the volcano returned to its normal state when it went into a resting phase in 2010, but until then visitors could see columns of ash at the top of the volcano, hear underground rumbling noises, and witness bright-orange flow of lava and explosions every day. Arenal’s eruption has had an extensive impact on the region by adding to the fertile soil in the surrounding locations, making it perfect for farming. The area’s abundant biodiversity is also a result of the ashes nourishing this part of Costa Rica.
