El Shrimp Shack

The food wasn't bad, the rations were just extremely small. I requested a shrimp cocktail and it had 6 (!) medium shrimps. My coconut shrimp also had only 6. My husbands Po' Boy had a really thick and dry bread. The waiter was very nice, and the atmosphere al fresco and the view make it enjoyable. The guard at the entrance made us re-park because we weren't members of the club, sending us to a much further area, even though there were several unoccupied spaces. Honestly that guard was the worst part of the experience. I know is not part of the restaurant, but you still have to go through him. Such an unpleasant person.
I honestly don’t understand how this place has such a high rating. It was almost empty when I came, and now I see why. I feel like I became a victim of misleading reviews. The tables are old, damaged, and look like they haven’t been replaced or properly maintained in years. The whole place feels worn out and neglected. The food took an insanely long time to arrive. Waiting that long while being hungry is just unacceptable — it felt like you could die from hunger before they finish cooking. Definitely not worth the time or expectations.
The seafood here is really good! All of the land meat options were out of stock (no chicken no beef). And no dessert available, sadly. Liked how the pasta was cooked (al dente). I ordered a rice bowl with pico de gallo and beans. I feel like some queso blanco or another cheese (not Parmesan) would add a perfect touch of flavor to it. We did a walk in and the restaurant was empty.
