Reviews
The potential is there: small, quiet resort of recent construction, with nice landscaping, direct access to the beach, large rooms with high ceilings, good beds and good decor. Unfortunately, this place does not meet the definition of "resort" a place where you can be sequestered away from the mundane while enjoying good food, and being catered to and entertained without having to leave. For starters, the drive to this place was something out of an Indiana Jones movie...the road leading to it is completely marred by giant holes and, driving at night, we almost busted the suspensions of our rental car. When we asked the manager why it was in such bad shape he responded that they were waiting for the government to repair it... The water in the rooms IS NOT POTABLE, but there are no signs in the room that it isn't, and there is a coffeemaker and no water bottles provided, so we proceeded to make coffee with it and one of us got sick. When we asked, they said not to drink the water in the room, and pointed to a single dispenser next to the bar, which was empty half of the time and we had to ask the employees to replace the water. No other sources of safe water were found anywhere else. Unacceptable. The room cleaning was minimal and perfunctory. The restaurant food is mediocre, predominantly fish, with very few other options, especially of the vegetarian type. The breakfast was ok. The personnel was very courteous and serviceable, but the restaurant was seriously understaffed and service was extremely slow (on Christmas Eve we had to wait 30 minutes in between courses). Other than massage service (which was good) there are no other activities available, so if you are looking for an active vacation you might want to look elsewhere. There is no on-site shop if you need sunscreen, snacks or any small items, so we were glad we had a car and we're able to drive to the next town to get our necessities and also to get good local food. Not going back.
The rooms are well appointed and the beds are pillow top, most comfortable we had in Costa Rica. The staff were very friendly and quick to try to support. They often ran out of items on the menu both food and drink and did not seem supported by management.Randall was amazing! Location is great…if you have your own vehicle. Cabs are exceptionally expensive to this location. The ocean is so close with a beach that is quiet and out of this world The resort itself is showing its age and lack of maintenance. Cracking and stained structures rule the day, light fixtures are not always working with poor fit and finish throughout. If you don’t mind a middling resort for a great beach, great bed, and great service (although often lacking items on the menu) this will work fine
