Description
Discover one of the most hidden protected areas of Guanacaste on a guided nature experience in Diría National Park, using your own transportation. Travel along scenic gravel roads between Santa Cruz and Nicoya and explore tropical dry forest, rivers, and natural pools with a local naturalist guide.
Meet your guide in Santa Cruz downtown (or at your accommodation, depending on location) and drive together in your rental car toward the park. The guide will ride with you in your vehicle. Along the way, enjoy rural landscapes and mountain views before entering the protected area.
Once inside the park, the experience adapts to river conditions and seasonal water levels. You will enjoy one of the following options:
A- Short and easy nature walk along park trails with nearby natural pools, ideal for relaxing and cooling off.
B- River hike upstream to Brazil Waterfall (seasonal), hiking about 1.5 km in and 1.5 km out.
Cool off in crystal-clear pools along Brazil Creek and learn about the fascinating regeneration of tropical dry forests. Your guide will share insights about local wildlife, ecology, and the importance of these forests for surrounding communities.
After the experience, return to Santa Cruz by car. An optional stop for lunch at a typical local restaurant can be arranged on the way back.
