Reviews
Excellent find, tucked away in the forest. Very friendly staff. Ask about the bird tour with Denis.
My husband and I spent our honeymoon here in January, and it was truly unforgettable. The setting is absolutely beautiful, from the land and wildlife to the weather and incredible food, but what made it so special was the staff. They are some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met, and they made us feel so welcomed and cared for from the moment we arrived. It really felt like staying with family. I honestly do not think I have ever had such a warm and thoughtful experience anywhere else. The way they treat their guests is something truly special, and it meant so much to us. The road getting there can be a bit challenging, so I recommend traveling during the day and using a 4x4 vehicle, but it is completely worth it. We are already hoping to come back one day.
Ecolirios Boutique Hotel is a thoughtful eco-focused property created and run by local owners. I enjoyed a cooking class during my stay, and the staff made the experience welcoming and well organized. The team was consistently helpful and professional throughout my visit. The grounds are beautiful, with trails and access to waterfalls that are easy to explore. It’s a peaceful place to stay and a great option for anyone looking to experience Costa Rica’s nature in a comfortable setting.
The biggest "issue" (if you can call it that) is the drive to get there. You NEED a 4WD or AWD vehicle. We stayed for 6 days and it was worth every minute. It is secluded. And has a security guard with a locked gate. Monrique - who checked us in and showed us around was welcoming and attentive. He helped answer any questions we had. Sergio- our server at the restaurant was WONDERFUL! He made great conversations AND recommendations for where to explore next (Check my review out for Mono Verde in Jaco - his brother Carlos is the owner) Dennis - our Nature Walk Guide was knowledgeable and was so excitable each time we saw something new. He knows and can identify each frog you see and can name all 150+ types of frogs. 😉 The Kakula house was our villa for six days. EXPECT to see bugs - you're in the jungle. Seriously the people complaining about having bugs and no screens on the windows, get over yourselves. The shower and tub is open air, secluded and absolutely wonderful. There's tons of wildlife and so many birds. Even though it rained the majority of the time it was STILL beautiful and was the most relaxed I've found myself in years. Would recommend this place to anyone visiting Costa Rica.
