Dr. Alfaro, Plastic Surgeon
Miguel Alfaro, M.D. graduated from the University of Costa Rica Medical School. Trained in general surgery at University of Costa Rica, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and University of Missouri, Columbia. He completed residency studies in plastic reconstructive surgery at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver. Has been professor at the Medical School of the University of Costa Rica.
Doctor Alfaro was the Chief of the Plastic Surgery Service, Chief of the Burn Unit and Former Chairman of the Departament of Surgery of the National Hospital San Juan de Dios in Costa Rica, which is a university teaching hospital with 800 adults beds with a 400 beds surgical department. Has been Member of the National Bioethical Comitee.
Dr. Miguel Alfaro is a member of the prestigious Oncological Society, the Mastology Society, the International Plastic Surgery Society, the International College of Surgeons, the International Society for Burn Injuries, and the Ibero-Latinoamerican Society for Plastic Surgery.
In addition to having been president of the Costa Rican Plastic Surgery Society, he has been a member of the Scientific Bioethical Committee, the Costa Rican College of Surgeons and the Mal Practice Committee of the same college.
He is a member of the Board of Directors at Cima San José Hospital.
