History

The idea behind Cirque Du Soleil started in the 1980s in the small town Baie-Saint-Paul, located in Quebec. A group of young jugglers, stilt walkers, dancers, fire breathers, and musicians were brought together by Giles Ste-Croix. This team impressed the locals so much that they invited Cirque Du Soleil to perform in 1984 at the 450th anniversary celebration of the discovery of Canada. From that moment forward, Cirque Du Soleil has been performing around the world.
