Puerto Culebra Information

Puerto Culebra is located in the North Pacific Region and rests along the shores of the Gulf of Papagayo, on Culebra Bay.  The area is well known for it's upscale luxury accommodations, white sand beaches, and picturesque views. The warm waters and calm currents make it a wonderful spot for swimming, snorkeling and scuba diving. There is some great offshore fishing in this area and gives you the chance to see the bay area from the water. You will find ample accommodations as this area continues to grow, appearing more like a miniature Cancun every year.

Things To Do

Rincon de la Vieja National Park is a great day trip to view the volcano, hike trails and see the abundant wildlife.  North of Culebra you can find Santa Rosa National Park and visit the beaches at Playa Coloradas and try the excellent scuba diving or snorkeling around the offshore islands.  The Iguana Refuge is south of the town and makes an eventful day combined with shopping in El Coco or surfing Playa Hermosa.

How to Get There

The airport in Liberia offers flights into many of the beach towns on a regular basis and updates them periodically as new airstrips become available. From San Jose you can travel north on the Pan American Highway towards Liberia and connect to Highway 21. At Guardia take the road to Culebra which is marked on the roadways.
