Ojochal - Simply Charming

Ojochal is a captivating community known for it's amazing restaurants, international community, and gorgeous beaches.  Located in the South Pacific Region, Ojochal sits along jungle covered mountains and cascades down into river filled valley that eventually flows into the Pacific Ocean and the Terraba River. The beaches of Ojochal are some of the most beautiful in Costa Rica, the most famous being Playa Ventanas where caves have formed in the rocks that line the shore. You can venture through the caves on low tide and "hear the ocean breathe."

Attractions
The mangroves around Ojochal offer a unique opportunity to go inland by boat and see different species of animals and birds that thrive in this pristine and balanced eco-system, paddle across the Terraba River and find adventure on Isla Garza. The beaches  around Ojochal are some of the most beautiful in all of Costa Rica so make it a point to spend some of your vacation actually relaxing on one of the uncrowded and immaculate beaches. There are many activities available close to Ojochal including: ATV tours, Mountain Biking, Hiking, Waterfall Tours, Canopy Tours, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Whale Watching. Visiting Marino Ballena National Park is a short trip north of Ojochal where one can spend the day hiking out onto the famous Whales Tale or catch additional boat charters.

Services
Ojochal is a bedroom community, meaning that most of the neighborhood lives there a majority of the year and run or patronize the local businesses. This makes for a healthy economy and a lively community that is full of quality services and amenities. 

How to get to Ojochal
From San Jose you can choose any of the following methods of travel.

Charter/Regional Flights - you can catch a Regional Flight by Sansa or Nature Air from San Jose to the airport in either Quepos or the closer town of Palmar. From there you have the option of renting a car, riding the bus, hiring a transfer or taking a taxi.

Bus - From San Jose look for buses to Dominical or Palmar Norte and connect to Ojochal from there.

Transfers - there are many private Transfer Companies that will get you to Uvita in a nice van with A/C.

Taxi - not recommended unless you can negotiate a good deal. Most Taxis will charge you an exorbitant amount.
