Nosara is a small fishing and agricultural area with a nature conscious community surrounding it. The Nosara community works diligently to keep the right balance between nature and development giving way to hundreds of acres of protected lands and small business developments.
 
The official town center is located 6km inland from the beach where markets, churches, a school, post office and pharmacy can be found. The Nosara area includes 4 small beach communities Playa Nosara, Playa Pelada, Playa Ostional and Playa Guiones. Playa Nosara is a dark sand beach that stretches from Playa Ostional to the Nosara river mouth. The mangrove plush river can be accessed with kayak or river tours from local guides. You can explore the turtle nesting sights in Playa Ostional or take long strolls on the endless beaches in between the small communities. You can find a variety of accommodations, both beach and nature, for your stay in Nosara as well as take advantage of the small airport for quick jaunts to other locations in the Nicoya Region.

  • Spending the day at one of the favorite beaches allows you to sunbathe, surf and swim, and enjoy a variety of water activities.

  • Take the Nosara River Kayak tour to experience nature and terrain of the region.
  • Visit the Ostional National Refuge to see a turtle nesting grounds and take advantage of the photo opportunities inside the refuge.
