Flamingo Beach

Flamingo Beach, or Playa Flamingo as it is known in Costa Rica, is a stunning beach resort with a variety of secluded lagoons with the reaches of the mountain formations coming down to the waters edge. With large name brand resorts, championship golf courses and planned marina facilities it is no wonder Flamingo Beach has become a thriving tourist destination in Costa Rica. Services

There are bus routes between Flamingo and other nearby notable beaches along the coast. Taxis are available and Playa Flamingo is a short 45 minute drive from the airport in Liberia. An immense choice in accommodations, restaurants, tours, activities and shopping is available. Rental car companies are also located on the main street in the event you want to take off and explore in your own way.

Things To Do

Take a day trip to river raft on the Coricibi, Tempisque River or scuba dive and find some of the top diving spots viewing manta rays, sailfish and dolphins. If off shore fishing is on your radar, hook up with the local fishing charters for Bat Island or take the 45 foot WaveDancer for a memorable charter. Spend a day catching waves at the most popular surfing spots or just relax on the pristine beach and sip on cocktails as you take in the fresh air and amazing views. Feel the need to pamper yourself with a spa or massage? You can choose from luxurious spa centers to a massage beachside. Take a day trip to Potrero for some shopping, surfing or find yourself a secluded part of the beaches to spend a romantic afternoon.

How To Get There

From San Jose International Airport take the Panamerican Highway north to Liberia and Highway 21 out of Liberia towards the coastline. You will see well marked signs for all the beaches at the intersection in Guardia. Total trip is approximately 5 hours. You can take a flight into Liberia, Tamarindo or Potrero and find rental cars or private transfers in each location.  Buses leave from San Jose several times a day for flamingo Beach and other beaches along the North Pacific.
