Description
This family-friendly rafting trip includes guidance from world-class, bilingual, internationally trained guides and safety kayakers who will teach you to navigate the river’s rapids safely and confidently. You will work as a team to experience the dynamic flow of one of Costa Rica’s most famous rivers.
Your adventure begins with a 4x4 ride into the tropical Costa Rican jungle, passing through remote areas of the Savegre River watershed. The journey starts in Silencio, a local village with a cooperative community and rich history. After traveling dirt roads, you will stop at a traditional Costa Rican restaurant to select your lunch for after the tour and have restroom access before heading to the rafting start point.
The Savegre River offers Class II and III rapids suitable for sturdy rafts accommodating 2 to 6 people. During the trip, your guides may invite you to jump in the water to float safely in the river, enhancing your connection with the natural environment. You will stop by a powerful waterfall where you can swim and enjoy fresh fruit provided by the guides.
Along the river, expect to see local bird species including egrets, osprey, toucans, parrots, kingfishers, and cormorants in this protected primary tropical rainforest area. The rafting route covers approximately 13 miles before returning to Silencio where a warm Costa Rican lunch and refreshments will be served. After the meal, you will travel back to Manuel Antonio.
