Description
Meet your guide at Playa Tamarindo and begin with a 20-minute on-shore lesson covering paddling technique, safety, and steering, so you feel confident before you launch. From there, it's a scenic 30 to 40-minute paddle across calm, protected waters to Capitan Island — a rocky outcrop just off the coast that's far less crowded than the standard Tamarindo Bay snorkel spots.
Once you arrive, spend around 45 minutes in the water with full snorkel gear, drifting over shallow reef and exploring the bay from the island's edge. The marine life here is the highlight: expect colorful tropical fish, rays, coral formations, starfish, and sea urchins, with frequent sightings of octopus and the occasional sea turtle.
With a maximum of 10 participants per tour, the group stays small enough for the guide to give real attention to every paddler. Fresh fruit and water are included for a mid-tour refuel, and civil liability insurance is covered. Ideal for confident swimmers, ocean lovers, and travelers who want a more active, authentic alternative to the typical boat tour.
