Located at a higher elevation than much of Monteverde, Santa Elena Reserve offers a unique cloud forest environment characterized by mist, mosses, orchids, and towering trees. The reserve supports diverse plant life, including epiphytes and fungi, as well as various insects and bird species adapted to the cool, moisture-rich conditions.

With a certified naturalist guide, visitors explore quiet forest trails while learning about the cloud forest’s ecology and adaptations. Although wildlife sightings are less frequent than in some lower-elevation forests, the focus is on understanding this rare ecosystem.
