Description
Begin your tour at La Fortuna Waterfall (about 2 hours total). This waterfall is representative of the Arenal area and is absolutely stunning. The 70 meter waterfall creates a natural freshwater pool, perfect for travelers who are up for swimming. To reach the base, you’ll descend around 500 steps, so a reasonable/acceptable physical condition is recommended. You’ll have about 40 minutes to swim when conditions are safe, all surrounded by lush rainforest scenery.
Next, visit the Arenal Ecological Park (about 2.5 hours) to reach the highest point allowed on the Arenal Volcano trails and see the old lava flows up close. After the hike, enjoy a typical Costa Rican lunch (about 30 minutes) before continuing the adventure.
The journey continues with a visit to the Arenal Mistico Hanging Bridges (about 2.5 hours). The reserve has trails through the heart of the rainforest and suspension bridges that extend into the forest canopy, giving you a completely different perspective. As you walk along the bridges, be on the lookout for birds, monkeys, and other wildlife.
Finish with time to unwind at the El Choyín hot springs area on the Tabacón River (about 40 minutes), where you can relax in the warm waters and enjoy a volcanic mud mask experience before heading back to the drop-off point.
