I'm here and checked in today. I think future guests should know that the hotel only provides one washcloth per room, regardless of how many occupants are staying in it. If this is an issue for you bring your own washcloth. When I first called the front desk about it, the receptionist Ismael was incredibly friendly. He explained that housekeeping could bring a fresh washcloth to the room whenever we needed one and even had me laughing about the situation. He stated that if she needed a new washcloth an unlimited amount of times, they would bring it. Later, after I showered, I called to request a replacement washcloth so my partner could shower. This time, I spoke with a different receptionist, Sophia. I asked for an estimated wait time because I think that's important information for guests who may be trying to get ready for tours, dinner reservations, or other scheduled activities. Her response was that it would be "whenever they can," and that it could take two minutes or ten minutes and that’s all she has to say. She was curt. Because of the interaction, I asked for her name, and she hung up on me. I called back, and Ismael answered immediately and apologized for Sophia's behavior. Before arriving here, I stayed at Hotel Pasatiempo and Valle Escondido, where I had excellent experiences. Unfortunately, this marks a rough start to my stay here, and based on my experience so far, it doesn't feel like the level of service matches the price. Manager was nice and stated Sophia was new and would be trained (understandable).
The best hot springs I've in been to in the world. Three swim up bars. The waterslides are insane. Absolutely phonomomel (under 55 only). The staff were amazing and very professional. Beautiful and amazing. Great value!!!
I spent 2 nights here out of the 2 weeks I was in Costa Rica. The property was very spacious and beautifully decorated. The breakfast buffet was delicious with many options to choose from. The rooms are so so but I feel like you’re staying here for the thermal pools rather than the room.. so I can’t really say much about that. The downside was the inability to charge to the room while at the bars in the pools. It seems silly to bring your phone/card with you to open a tab everyday considering you get wristbands. The bars also closed at random times each night which was frustrating. Also, on Saturday night we came back from dinner to see 4+ buses in the lot unloading hundreds of teenagers for the night pass.. every pool was filled with rowdy teens so it was a headache. I feel like it was a bad decision considering the actual hotel guests couldn’t enjoy the amenities. I would come back but I’d be cautious when it comes to how many day passes are given out to visitors.
We spent the day at Baldi and had a great time. There are so many different springs and pools to choose from. The cave sauna was also great. Our kids (ages 2&4) loved their time there. They played in the kids area for a bit but loved all the other pools more. We went on a weekday and it wasn’t overly busy. They have in-out privileges for the day. We went back again in the evening after dinner. Drinks were great at the swim up bars. We didn’t eat there so can’t comment on the food.
What a great stay in La Fortuna! I would definitely recommend staying in the junior suite! A bit of a hike to get up there, but the room was totally worth it. The hot springs were amazing! Perfect temperatures and not gross at all. Staff was more than accommodating and made our stay well worth it. Food and drinks were good and the location is not far from the town of La Fortuna. 10/10 would recommend this hotel!!
