My husband and I had the absolute honour of staying at Saranda for 2 weeks for our honeymoon on our first time in Costa Rica. We were extremely impressed with the rooms and hotel in general. Although the rooms are small in size, there was plenty of room to store our luggage and other personal items, and we felt very comfortable. We booked the room with the private bathroom, and the bathroom is just as big as the bedroom, so there was extra storage space there as well, on top of it being an amazing design, with the best shower EVER! Lily and Zeneida, the house keepers, do an absolutely amazing and thorough job cleaning the rooms, and you can see they take pride in their work, and respect the privacy of the guests. It was so nice to come back to a fresh, crisp room after long days of adventuring! The design of the hotel is an incredible artistic masterpiece, with custom stained glass features, murals on the walls, incredible plants all around the pool deck, a driftwood entrance with a massive Poisidon statue over the entrance when you walk in, and countless more "easter eggs" everywhere you look! The curved roof covering compliments the shape of the rooms and gives it a whimsical feel! We had the pleasure of meeting the owner while we were there, and the way he spoke of the idea/design, and the way his eyes lit up while talking about it really showed us he cares, and takes pride in the space he built! He was so accommodating and friendly, and offered us drinks on the house to celebrate our honeymoon, and reminded us countless times how he appreciated our business and that we were staying for 2 weeks. The hotel has complimentary breakfast with an actual menu you order from, and the food is absolutely delicious, fresh and filling. Lunch and dinner are also offered for additional cost, but is made with love and cooked to perfection! Numerous times, we chose to stay at the hotel and eat lunch and dinner because it was so good, reasonably priced, and so tasty! Nela and Elsa are the cooks, and not only do they cook amazing food, but you can see they take pride in their work, the finished product, and customer satisfaction! The hotel has a swim up bar to order food and drinks, and the bartenders, Desire and Jennifer, were friendly, accommodating, timely, and make the best damn Pina Colada Ive ever had! The drinks are made fresh, and garnished beautifully! They also took the time to point out animals and birds, and teach us about the culture of Costa Rica! At the front desk, Melaney and Daneysha were the perfect people to assist you with any need you may have during your stay, from booking different tours, giving directions, calling the tuk tuk, arranging housekeeping, and assisting in any way possible. They are the first faces you see when you arrive, and the last you see when you leave, and I can truly say Ive never recieved such service at any other hotel Ive stayed at. Maikol, the manager of the hotel, was very accommodating, jumping in to help with bar, reception or kitchen duties where needed and even offered to get us different food items if we wanted, because we were there for so long. He made us feel like we mattered, which you dont get everywhere you go! In the morning, you will run into Gilbert, the maintenance man for the hotel. Without fail, every morning, he scrubs the pool deck clean, tends to the pool and all of the incredible plants featured and more! In the evening, you will meet Francisco, the security guard who keeps everyone feeling safe during the night hours. He was serious about his job, but also very friendly, accommodating and was always there to point out birds and iguanas, and to hold and umbrella over you in the rain....a true gem! Last, but certainly not least, was our hotel cat friend Max, who isn't easy to get to know, but by the end of our trip, was warming up, and wanting to play, and she truly adds a little something extra to the hotel atmosphere! We miss you Max! 😂 Until next time Saranda! We love and miss you, and will be back!
The hotel itself is beautiful - very creative and detailed design makes it a unique place to relax and rest. The plants, the paintings.. but most important are people as they make the atmosphere of a place - thank you to the manager for special attention to me as a single traveller, making me feel so comfortable. The team working at Saranda are all probably the nicest people in Costa Rica! Especially thank you to Melanie and Jenny who kept me company and made me laugh so much 💜 Truly unique and magic place. Highly recommended for couples AND solo travellers 🦥
The place is perfect for vacation, very quiet, no kid allowed, staff was super friendly, very nice swimming pool and bar. We did enjoy our stay. We were so happy to have the private shower as well.
Fun place to stay. It’s small but very well designed. The bathroom is the same size as the room if you need extra storage. The pool is saltwater and perfect. Every one here is super nice.
