I recently had the pleasure of attending a women’s retreat at Encantada Ocean Cottages, and honestly… I didn’t expect to fall in love with this place the way I did. From the moment we arrived, I found myself enchanted by it’s charm. Nestled along the lush tropical coastline of Costa Rica’s Pacific coast, Encantada felt like stepping into a hidden oasis designed for restoration, healing, and connection. The property grounds felt like a tropical sanctuary. Everywhere you turned you are surrounded by the natural beauty of Costa Rica, vibrant tropical flowers blooming throughout, a tranquil koi pond with beautiful water plants was just outside our room. Towering palm trees lined the beach, offering a perfect place to nap in a hammock, journal, and enjoy the breeze. Hummingbirds fluttered nearby, and the soothing sounds of ocean waves tropical birds and crickets provided the soundscape. The beach and ocean were steps away from Encantada’s open-aired thatched roofed restaurant and yoga shala, making the resort feel deeply enmeshed with the surrounding nature. The housekeeping staff was incredible! Every morning they cleaned and organized our rooms immaculately, always with kindness and flexibility. You could truly feel the care and warmth from every person on the property. The FOOD… Absolutely incredible!! We were originally told to bring snacks, but honestly, there was no need. Every meal was fresh, nourishing, abundant, and beautifully prepared. Fresh Costa Rican coffee was available each morning and quickly became one of my favorite rituals… sipping coffee while listening to the birds singing from a hammock overlooking the ocean was pure magic. Meals were served in the open-aired restaurant and featured fresh tropical fruits, homemade salsas, rice and beans were a staple, breakfast offered chia pudding, yogurt, eggs, fresh juices, and incredible locally inspired cuisine. Dinners offered beautifully prepared fish, proteins, and vegetarian options, and every single meal somehow managed to be even better than the last. On our first evening we were welcomed with fresh coconut water served directly from the coconut, perfectly setting the tone for the experience ahead. I fell in love with morning yoga which was held in an open-air, thatched roof yoga shala steps from the beach. The Shala offered a shaded area and an incredible view of the ocean as you practiced. The perfect way to ground into the day. The Staff at Encantada were unforgettable and truly left an impression. Tiffany, the owner, was warm, present, approachable, and genuinely invested in creating a meaningful experience for every guest. She even participated in some of our retreat sessions, which made the environment feel even more welcoming and connected. The restaurant and hospitality staff were absolutely wonderful. Roger helped us with everything from cold plunges to local fruit tastings where we sampled exotic fruits, some of which I had never tried before. At one point he even guided a group of us to check out photo a sloth. Kyrstin, the yoga instructor and retreat coordinator, was also amazing! She kept our group organized and up to date on our daily activities. She was thoughtful, attentive and brought a fun energy throughout our stay. Surf lessons, horseback riding, massages, yoga, cold plunges… every activity felt beautifully curated and seamlessly coordinated. And the sunsets… Absolutely breathtaking!! The sunsets at Encantada felt almost unreal, the kind that make you stop talking and simply take in the beauty around you. We did a sunset photoshoot on the beach, and the photos turned out absolutely stunning. This wasn’t just a place to stay. It was an experience. One that helped me slow down, reconnect with myself, feel nourished, inspired, grounded, and present. If you’re looking for a peaceful, beautiful, soul-nourishing place to stay in Costa Rica, Encantada is truly something special.
My experience at Encantada in Costa Rica was truly special, ewhich is exactly why this was my fourth visit. From the moment I arrived, the property felt peaceful, beautiful, and deeply restorative. It is the kind of place that invites you to slow down, breathe a little deeper, and fully take in the magic of Costa Rica. What makes Encantada so memorable is the people. Diana, Roger, Nisan, Gianni, Frank, and the rest of the team are incredible: warm, thoughtful, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Every interaction feels personal and kind, like they truly care about making each guest feel comfortable and cared for. The lovely owners, Nome and Tiffany, have created something really special: a place that feels intimate, intentional, and full of heart. The yoga offerings were also a highlight. Classes with Kyrstin and Anabel added such a meaningful layer to the experience, creating space to reconnect, move, reflect, and feel grounded in such a beautiful setting. Between the stunning surroundings, the wonderful people, and the peaceful energy of the property, Encantada is more than just a place to stay. It is a place I keep returning to because it feels restorative, welcoming, and unforgettable every single time. I would absolutely recommend Encantada to anyone looking for a beautiful, soulful, and memorable Costa Rican experience.
I absolutely loved my stay at Encantada during a recent wellness retreat. It is truly a magical place, you can feel it as soon as you step foot on the grounds. My week here felt like a cozy oasis and home away from home. The staff are incredible! The grounds are a luscious paradise, and the salt water pool was perfection. The beach is just a few steps away, so you have the best of both worlds. Everyone was so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. And the food.. absolutely delicious! You have to experience it for yourself. I would highly recommend staying here for a vacation or retreat!
The magical adventure started with easy pick up at the airport by a friendly driver who drove a comfy van with AC and made a perfect rest stop along the way to pick up cold drinks and enjoy the most fun souvenir shop! The ride was actually enjoyable to view the beautiful mountains and chat about the country with Gustavo! Upon arrival at Encantada Costa Rica (Encantada Ocean Cottages), we were greeted by staff who brought us to our cottage, and immediately felt the special vibe at Encantada! The lush beauty of the gardens that surrounded the grounds made us feel like we were fully rooted in nature. The cozy size made getting around very easy, like going from the salt water pool to the beach or filling up on water at the bar. The resident cat Nala could be spotted sunbathing or shade seeking so she made us feel like we could relax too and added to the you are at home vibe. The beach was the softest sand we have ever walked on! The food was outstanding! Every day, we enjoyed the fresh local fruit, and beautiful choices of local fish, chicken, steak or vegetarian. Our dinners were cooked on an outdoor wood burning grill so it was extra delicious! The yoga area was covered and outdoor so we had the ocean breeze, shade, the view of rolling ocean waves in front of us, and the sound of the waves!! The restaurant was also outdoor, covered so again, we had the breeze, sound and view, which was so immersive! The beds were comfortable and the cottages were spacious, clean, and AC & fan options. And the staff was super friendly, the morning coffee was outstanding, and I know we will be back to visit!!!
I loved my stay here! While the girls and I were enjoying a swim, the landscaper brought us fresh coconuts to drink. Things we didn’t know we needed were provided like this, by everyone who works here. Everyone I encountered was incredibly kind and wanted to make sure our needs were met and we were enjoying ourselves. The food and drink selection was so good! Traditional, nutritious, and delicious! Fun bartenders! Perfect location for swimming and surfing. And you walk right out of your own cute cottage to the beach. They also have a surf coach available on location. Daily yoga classes on top of everything else. This place is close to several fun attractions to see like rainmaker, monkey mangrove, and zip lines. I can’t wait to come back with my family.
