I stayed with my sister at this hotel previous week . Some part of this hotel is dreamy - like pool area is beyond fabulous . But Reception area looks old , Tiki rooms are from 1980s. For some reason there was rose petals around the whole room including toilet which was more weird than romantic . Nobody carried our luggages to Tiki room which was annoying since they were heavy . My sister asked for juice in breakfast and they did not had juice . Who does not have juice for breakfast ? Also she wanted cappuccino for breakfast and they charged her 8 dollar for one “ machine made “ button pressed cappuccino . And tasted like mud . Even Starbucks does not charge 8 usd for cappuccino . Beach was full of wood and coconut and trash - nobody cleans it . Also the waves are horrible while 10 minutes away the beaches are calm and lovely . Also they gave us June 2026 butter that expired at breakfast while we were at mid June there
We recently stayed at Tango Mar and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience overall. The location itself is absolutely beautiful, with a stunning beach and a gorgeous swimming pool. The natural setting is truly the hotel’s biggest asset. However, the hotel infrastructure feels very outdated and seems stuck in the early 2000s. The rooms are poorly maintained and clearly in need of renovation. Several fixtures were literally falling apart: door handles and shower faucets were coming off the walls. The food was also very disappointing. During low season there was no breakfast buffet, and the alternative breakfast offered was extremely limited and mediocre. The worst part of our stay was a power outage in the rooms, which meant no air conditioning in unbearable heat. Under those conditions it became impossible to stay, the owner wasn’t giving us any other options for us when we voiced out our frustration and just stated that it wasn’t her fault, because of this, we were forced to leave the hotel earlier than planned. Despite this major inconvenience, the owner refused to refund the remaining prepaid nights, which we found very unfair and unprofessional. This property has incredible potential thanks to its exceptional location, but it urgently needs renovation, better maintenance, and a much more modern and customer-oriented management approach.
One word..... Paradise. What a fantastic location, we thought only places like this were in films. Not only that but all of the staff were so respectful, friendly and attentive. Amazing menu, breakfast, bar and evening dining with a high level of skill carried out by the chefs. The proprietor Hilda, personally interacts with all of the guests as far as we could see and the fantastic service trickles down from the top. What a fantastic location for your break in Costa Rica. We spent three wonderful days at Tango Mar celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary, and it was absolutely perfect. The ocean view from our room was breathtaking. The owner is incredibly warm and welcoming, and the staff made us feel truly special. The food was excellent. A place with heart and soul — we would love to come back.
Tangomar is an exceptional resort and a truly special place. From the moment you arrive, everything feels calm, beautiful, and impeccably cared for. The property is stunning, immaculately clean, and set in an extraordinary location near the airport, with breathtaking ocean views that make the stay unforgettable. The owner and manager is a wonderful European professional who runs Tangomar with remarkable care and attention to detail. Her thoughtful touches throughout the property create an atmosphere that is both elegant and warm, and it is clear that the resort is extremely well managed. The staff are outstanding — kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food is excellent, and the kitchen consistently delivers high-quality meals that everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed. We stayed as a multigenerational family, with both children and older family members, and Tangomar worked beautifully for everyone. Each of us enjoyed the resort in our own way, which is a rare and valuable quality. We had a wonderful stay, created lasting memories, and would very happily return. We highly recommend Tangomar to families and to anyone seeking a refined, peaceful, and memorable experience in Costa Rica.
