We’ve absolutely loved our stay at Banana Azul Hotel. The staff have all been incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful from the moment we arrived. Nothing has been too much trouble and they’ve made our experience so relaxing and enjoyable. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and so well maintained — it truly feels like a tropical paradise. Being so close to the beach has made it even more special. We were also so touched to find a lovely honeymoon gift waiting in our room, which made our stay feel even more special and personal. Beautiful atmosphere, amazing service and the perfect place to unwind. We’ll definitely be back!
Love this place! The service here is amazing and the staff is incredibly friendly! Hillary and Jeffery made my dinner experience unforgettable and truly special. They organized a romantic dinner on the beach with a delicious three course meal. Hillary was so kind throughout the entire night and was very attentive! Another shoutout to Naomi for such a fun time with our cooking class. She got to know us personally and made me feel very welcomed. I would definitely stay here again!
Firstly the rooms were amazing and all of the staff were super helpful. The grounds were beautiful and they gave us cute little dunks when we arrived. Everything was perfect and so beautiful. We had the romantic dinner and would definitely recommend it as it was the perfect romantic destination, with great food and scenery. Hillary was our server and she was so friendly, kind, and inclusive. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Thank you!!!!!
Our stay at Banana Azul delivered exactly what I look for in a high-quality travel experience: low friction, consistent service, and a setting designed for reliable relaxation. From a “Travel Uptime” perspective, this property performs very well. Arrival was smooth, staff was attentive and responsive, and the overall environment is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully laid out. Nothing felt chaotic or over-commercialized—everything just worked. The beachfront location is a major strength. It’s quiet, uncrowded, and ideal for extended downtime. My wife spent hours enjoying the waves, which speaks to the core value of the location. The property also strikes a strong balance between seclusion and accessibility, with Puerto Viejo a short ride away when you want more activity. Dining was another highlight. The menus are well thought out, with a mix of Caribbean and Costa Rican dishes alongside more traditional options. Breakfast, which was included with our stay, was excellent—featuring a variety of egg dishes, parfaits, and authentic Caribbean selections. Bottom line: high reliability, low stress, and a very effective destination for decompression. We would absolutely return.
Me and my boyfriend spent 7 days here and it was beyond our expectations. We had the kindest servers and staff that made this experience wonderful. The hotel itself is beautiful, not crowded, and really feels like you are in a jungle beach resort. We had lots of complications with our flights and the staff were quick to ensure that we could be accommodated the way we needed. We booked all our tours and transportation through the hotel and couldn’t recommend this place enough!
