Our mature property enjoys hundreds of exotic plants. Relax under the shade of the 100 year old Panama tree and watch hummingbirds feed on hibiscus and other tropical flowers. Tucan Tierra sits directly on the Gulf and just behind the main surf break at Backwash Bay. You can paddle out from the yard or walk 5 minutes in either direction to find two more world class waves; Pan Dulce and Matapalo.
Tucan Tierra is a perfect place to enjoy the abundant wildlife found in and around Matapalo and Corcovado National Park. Three-toed sloths, anteaters, monkeys, agouties, and others pass through while birds and butterflies float by. Our private beach is another fantastic place to enjoy the wonders of the area. At low tide, the natural pools hold an abundance of sea life. You can also play in the Pacific Ocean on one of our kayaks or enjoy epic snorkelling.
The two bedroom casitas at Tucan Tierra each sleep up to 4 each and are housed in a two story structure designed to harness the refreshing breezes that come off of the gulf. The large porches are perfect for hanging out with a good book or glass of wine while taking in the beauty of the surroundings. The kitchens are amply stocked with stove top, sink, glasses, cookware, and utensils. Our solar system runs all the lights, provides hot water and power to a AC/DC converter to charge small electronics. Each casita holds one double bed and two twins.
